ALYSSA’S PSYCHOLOGY TODAY PROFILE
I am a licensed therapist with 10 years of experience treating individuals with post traumatic, depressive, and anxiety disorders. My approach is evidence-based, as I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a highly effective therapy for treating persons struggling with intrusive memories and triggers of painful events in their past, as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and uses skills-building and behavioral tools for anyone wanting to improve their frustration tolerance, emotional regulation, and social interactions.
My specialties include treating adults and adolescents working through avoidance of and emotional reactivity to current stressors, attachment and relationship difficulties, stage of life crises, grief and loss, addiction and codependency, abuse, neglect, and medical and sexual trauma.
One truth I have learned from years of therapeutic practice it is that trauma is universal, though oftentimes the people who come to me for therapy do not understand why they feel overwhelmed riding the waves of everyday life. If you are working to realize your goals and find your peace, I am happy to aid you on your journey.
